Sabato 8 ottobre:

16:00: Arrivo di Matteo a Margherita di Savoia.
16:30: Consegna di una targa di merito da parte dell’Amministrazione Comunale presso la sede dell’Unitalsi, Corso Africa Orientale.
17:00: Conferenza stampa.
18:00: Incontro con le associazioni di volontariato Unitalsi, “Io esisto” e A.V.M.
18:30: Messa per i ragazzi disabili nella chiesa Madre.

Domenica 9 ottobre:

9:00: Ritrovo presso Piazza Marconi di tutti i ciclisti provenienti da Manfredonia e le autorità di Margherita.
9:05: Piccolo rinfresco e colazione per tutti i partecipanti.
9:30 Partenza della carovana in direzione Manfredonia.
10:00: Arrivo a Zapponeta con breve sosta ristoratrice.
10:15: Ri-partenza verso Manfredonia.
12:00: Arrivo a Manfredonia in Piazzale Ferri ed incontro con le Autorità cittadine e le associazioni per disabili di Manfredonia.

Matteo had a meeting with Mr Moeini, Baavar disable people association director, and his assistant Miss Miladi in Tehran yesterday. Since 2004 the NGO Baavar, Iranian word for “to believe”, is actively working to: remove incorrect and unreal views regarding the nature of disability and the influence of this issue on the strengths of disable people; correct the prevailing interpretation that bodily and movement constraints of disable people cause the decreases their strengths in individual and social activities; promote of this belief that disability is a constraint not an inability and disable people can have and must have an independent life based on their own citizenship dignity beyond bodily and movement constraints; and fill the gap caused between the specific constraints of these people and their potential abilities in individual and social life.

During the informal meeting, it was decided that Baavar and Travel For Aid will collaborate creating media events during Matteo one-month stay in Tehran, starting from this Friday May 27 on the occasion of the wheel chair sport competition that Matteo will attend.

— New partner joins project Vietnam-Italy —

The association Volunteer Society Nepal became partner of Travel for Aid in the project “From Vietnam to Italy by bicycle for the disabled”. Mr Tej, director of VSN, met with Matteo in his office yesterday to plan a series of visits to schools for children with special needs and a volunteer internship period in a rural area. The first visit took place today at the Special Education and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children, where Matteo met with Ms Kalpana, GM and physiotherapist, for a tour the school facilities.

Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN) is a Nepal-based, Nepali-run grassroots organization that provides volunteers with incredible experiences, while ensuring maximum benefit for the Nepalese.

SERC is a private organization dedicated to delivering quality education and rehabilitation services. The center provides a unique education and therapy opportunity for children below 16, who have recognized intellectual and physical disabilities.

The Rishilpi Project for rural community advancement joined this project by opening its centers in Bangladesh to a visit of Matteo next month.

The Rishilpi Development Project started 30 years ago near the rural city of Shatkhira in south east Bangladesh to create better conditions for the outcast Rishi community. Today, the project started by Laura and Vincenzo Falcone, is a small village where thousand people at the margins of society work. The campus includes also a rehabilitation centre for disabled children and teenagers, a school for hundred students and an orphanage with adoption centre.

The Leprosy Mission International joined this project by opening its centers in Myanmar to a visit of Matteo next month.

With its 130 years of existence, The Leprosy Mission International is one the oldest charities still operating in the world. The association has expanded its field of action from the original mission to eradicate the leprosy to all kind of disabilities, becoming the largest and most active actor working with disabled people in Myanmar.

Since 1990, LDPA has been active in offering Disability rights Training and Capacity building, Civic Empowerment and Disability Rights Education, Developing and Advocating Laws for Disable People and Sport Activities.

EUMatteo was received by Mr Rafael Dochao Moreno, Chargé d’Affaires of the Delegation of the European Commission to Cambodia. Following this informal meeting, in a brief note Mr Moreno expressed the moral support of the institution he represents for our project “From Vietnam to Italy to help disabled children”, since this one shares the same humanitarian aims of the European Commission in the development world. We are very grateful to the Commission for this acknowledgment.

laos-disabled-people-associL’associazione dei disabili laotiani (LDPA. Lao Disabled People Association) ha aderito al nostro progetto come partner. Il prossimo mese, Matteo visiterà le loro strutture a Vientiane.

Dal 1990 la LDPA opera nel settore dell’integrazione dei diversabili nella vita lavorativa, sociale e sportiva fornendo loro istruzione e strumenti per vivere una vita normale.

EUMatteo è stato ricevuto da Rafael Dochao Moreno, Chargé d’Affaires della delegazione in Cambogia della Commissione dell’Unione Europea. A seguito di questo meeting informale svoltosi negli uffici della delegazione, il Sig. Moreno ha espresso in una nota il sostegno morale dell’istituzione che rappresenta per il progetto “Dal Vietnam all’Italia in bicicletta per aiutare i diversabili”, inquarto questo combacia con gli obbiettivi umanitari che la Commissione Europea persegue nel paesi in via di sviluppo. Rivolgiamo i nostri ringraziamenti più sinceri per il supporto morale che l’istituzione europea ci ha concesso.

ciai-logoL’associazione umanitaria CIAI (Centro Italiano Aiuti all’Infanzia) ha aderito alla nostra iniziativa aprendo le porte del suo istituto di rieducazione psicomotoria di Phnom Penh ad una visita di Matteo giovedì 22 ottobre.

Il CIAI è un’Organizzazione Non Governativa apartitica e non confessionale che dal 1968 si batte per promuovere il riconoscimento del bambino come persona e difenderne ovunque i diritti fondamentali, alla vita, alla salute, alla famiglia, all’educazione, al gioco e all’innocenza.

Tre le linee di intervento del CIAI: la Solidarietà e Cooperazione, l’Adozione Internazionale e lo sviluppo di una vera e propria Cultura dell’Infanzia.
